Friends of the Surgery

In 1994, Dr Watson & Nurse Sandra Pugh founded the FRIENDS of the Surgery. Their aim was to enable the purchase of amenities for the patients’ benefit, which could not be provided by the NHS. These amenities are usually requested by members of staff; via the Practice Manager.  Over the ensuing 25 years many such ‘extras’ have been funded or part-funded. They include automatic doors; air control in the main waiting room;  a new phlebotomy chair, ECG machine, Audio booth & necessary equipment, sign-in machine, home-use blood-pressure monitors, dopplers, a medical couch, and an intranet TV screen in both waiting areas. The purchase currently in hand is the instalment of an automatic door to the main waiting room.

There is no joining routine and, therefore no subscriptions. All adult patients (over 16 years of age) are automatically included as “Friends”.

Friends Update - June 2024

Friends of the Surgery

DID YOU KNOW: that we supplied the automatic doors at the entrance to the Surgery to assist less able people to enter.

We rely on donations to enable us to fund facilities that benefit Surgery patients, and are not supplied by the NHS.

Should any patient wish to make a donation to the Friends, please contact the Friends Hon. Treasurer Jane Ardley, either by phone (01732 885933) or by email (jjbtrainer@outlook.com).  Such donations are gratefully received, and allow us to continue our activities.
